The name Kuthiramalika means the palace of horses , which is why the grand 122 wooden horses that welcome the visitors of this palace do full justice to its splendid name. Being alternatively known as Puthenmalika Palace Museum, the building is a grand two-storied structure located near the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The palace was built by Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma who had been the Maharaja of the Kingdom of Travancore during the British rule in India. The architecture incorporated in the building lets the beholders time travel back to the 1840s
